Free NZ wide Farmers Markets cooking demos

August 29, 2011

Want to catch locally and nationally acclaimed chefs in their element? Farmers’ Markets New Zealand, in conjuction with the REAL New Zealand Festival, is pleased to present a national series of FREE Farmers’ Market cooking and producer demonstrations – shining the light on the very best of local Farmers’ Market food. There will be live video so lots of people can see the details of what’s happening, so you can do your market shopping and get some inspiration on what to do with it! The festival runs from Sept 4th – October 23rd.

Check out the schedule on the website or through facebook to see what chef is cooking near you.

If you’d like to be a Market VIP for the day to win great prizes, a chance to schmooze with your local chef, and preferential tastings, make sure you enter the draw! Check out the details about scoring extra entries through facebook.

I’ll be buzzing around the Christchurch Farmers Market with Jonny Schwass, so come and say hi! Would love to see you there.

EDIT: I’m in the process of sourcing some prizes for our Market VIPs – hit me with any ideas you have via email! We’re prioritising local/NZ made goodies.

Looking forward to this. Auckland’s demos are in Grey Lynn and Parnell. I live pretty much between the two of them. So going to both. Can’t wait!

I don’t drive so it’s probably a good thing these are super close. Isn’t it funny, I never even knew there were farmers’ markets in those places. There is a French market in Parnell that I go to regularly, but I didn’t even know about the Farmers’ one up the road.

B: Yay! That’s half the awesomeness of these events actually, to highlight markets that might be close to them. Wouldn’t it be great if they were daily?
