Why Canterbury foodies will <3 March
Apologies about the scarcity of recipes!* Fortunately there are some amazing foodie-friendly events happening this month.
This weekend has been dubbed “The World’s Friendliest Weekend” to celebrate St Paddy’s, featuring two markets, two amazing Irish dinners (great value too, since I can attest to the quality of all dishes the Taste team put out), and plenty of crazy fun stuff happening in between.
Saturday the 24th is Macaron Day, which coincides with the opening of the new J’aime les Macarons shop! They have a special deal on that day too – check their facebook page to see!
On the 24th, Mercato is also having a Celebrate the Artisans get together. The buffalo yogurt is definitely worth trying as well! Would be great with the pohutukawa honey from J Friend actually!
Lastly, March is the last month you’ll be able to avoid the crowds and do you farmers’ market shopping in peace at the Wednesday Twilight market (4-7pm), which is also where you’ll be able to enjoy some of Christchurch’s yummiest pizza in the beautiful grounds of Riccarton House and Bush.
*Have been busy because, with a few friends, I am organising Women’s Futures Month (a series of public discussions addressing the factors limiting women’s leadership potential), finishing my thesis and looking for awesome places I’d like to work…possibly in Sydney(!) So, I
will be have been a bit AWOL…but I promise it’s not because I’ve been hiding exciting dishes from you all!
